The department staff consists of the Fire Chief, a Deputy Chief, and a Station Captain. The are also Station, Truck and Training Lieutenants. Some members also serve as Records Coordinator & Financial Coordinator. The department, as part of it's services, conducts both structural and wildland fire supression and prevention, medical assistance as First Responders with Liberty Regional EMS, Public Education, inspections, natural disaster assistance, and provides a variety of special aid to the members of the local community.

History of the Department.

Founded in 1983, the Department got it's first apparatus, when the members of the department, all signed a loan at a local bank. With that loan, they purchased a 1963 Hahn Engine. (The engine was pulled from service in 2002, and given free of charge to Charlton County Volunteer Fire Department in 2004.)

The Department also got it's first home when a local community member donated a parcel of land to the city government. The agreement was that the land could remain in the control of the city for use as city hall, as long as the department has use of the building as well. To this day, the department still shares this building with the City of Gum Branch.

In 2002, the department began looking for an additional parcel of land near the western end of it's response area. Due to the number of apparatus the department now owns, additional space was needed to house the vehicles. The current building only has two bays, and 4 of the apparatus are exposed to the elements. This new building is expected to house 4 apparatus, with an additional bay to be built onto the side of the current building. With these additions, all apparatus will be able to be housed indoors, out of the elements.
