Each year, fire kills more than 4,000 Americans, and more than 25,000 are injured, more than all natural disasters combimed. Many of them might be alive today if they had had the information they needed to avoid a disaster*. Eighty percent of these deaths occur in the home. Seniors and children under 5 have the greatest risk of fire deaths due to not being able to escape a fire. The following are the leading causes of fire deaths in theUS.*
A working smoke detector gives you the greatest chance of surviving a fire*. A home sprinkler system is the best means of stopping a fire from spreading, and preventing major damage to the home. Most occurances of fires in a sprinklered building, are extinguished by three or less sprinkler heads, and involve significantly less water damage than a fire department's fire supression efforts.
