Minimum Training Requirements
All approved members will be required to enroll in the next available Mod. 1 or First Responder class . These are minimum requirements for the State of Georgia. The Module 1 (or sometimes Firefighter 1) classes are given at either a local department, or at the State Fire Academy in Forsythe, Georgia. Additionally, you may be required to complete any of the following training:

CPR Training
Hazardous Materials Awareness
Department Safety
Drivers Training
Bloodborne Pathogens/Infection Control training annually
Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) training annually

Once minimum training requirements have been met, you may continue to increase your level of participation by obtaining additional training through local departments, or state programs.

Your training & protective clothing will be provided to you at no cost to you. Each member receives one department shirt. All additional shirts must be paid for out of pocket. Insurance coverage is included for your activities with the department through VFIS.
